Double-flowered Chamomile as the name suggests is the variety of chamomile which is a mat-forming evergreen plant which has tiny aromatic leaves that form a dense carpet of green, this variety however, does flower with a mass of pretty creamy-white pom-pom like flowers form midsummer, making it more suitable for using as a lawn, but with the added interest of flower. Double-flowered Chamomile can only be propagated by runners or cuttings. In any case it is better planted in a drift and certainly where it can be walked on, brushed past or crushed gently to allow the calming aroma to be released. Chamomile is a wonderful low growing plant approx 10cm that grows wild in the pastures and prairies, or where other grasses flourish. As a result, it is fully hardy and prefers well drained soils in full sun. Trim regularly to maintain shape.

Double flowered Chamomile is popularly used as a calming, stress relieving tea, chamomile also assists digestion and the flowers and leaves have been used for a range of complaints, from nappy rash to anger management. The essential oils are important in cosmetic products like conditioners, and also feature in the arsenal of the aromatherapist. If you want to use chamomile for its aromatherapy benefits then the standard Chamaemelum nobile is the better variety as the properties are in the flower.

Lots of plants
Great condition and lots of smaller plants in each pot which was a nice surprise. Ordered a fair few plants and all were in good condition, especially since they were bought at the back end of november.

Difficult to find this double flowered form, but the best chamomile, so many uses it holds its perfume very well when dried and a great asset in the garden.
