Double-flowered Chamomile as the name suggests is the variety of chamomile which is a mat-forming evergreen plant which has tiny aromatic leaves that form a dense carpet of green, this variety however, does flower with a mass of pretty creamy-white pom-pom like flowers form midsummer, making it more suitable for using as a lawn, but with the added interest of flower.  Double-flowered Chamomile can only be propagated by runners or cuttings.  In any case  it is better planted in a drift and certainly where it can be walked on, brushed past or crushed gently to allow the calming aroma to be released. Chamomile is a wonderful low growing plant approx 10cm that grows wild in the pastures and prairies, or where other grasses flourish. As a result, it is fully hardy and prefers well drained soils in full sun. Trim regularly to maintain shape.
