Liatris Spicata 'Kobold'(Button Snakewort 'Kobold') Herb in 1L Pot
Liatris Spicata 'Kobold' is also known as Button Snakewort 'Kobold' and Kansas Gayfeather or Gayfeather as one of the common name suggests it is native of N. America. Liatris is an herbaceous perennial, it has Upright stems with whorls of fresh green narrow grass-like leaves these are topped by spikes of purple fluffy flowers which open from the top downwards, it will flower from late summer into early autumn. Liatris will grow to a height of 80cm. Liatris Spicata 'Kobold' is easy to grow and they will produce plumes of white florets year after year. They prefer full Sun or Partial Shade in a well-drained fertile soil and they are fully hardy. They are great for a wildlife garden as their nectar-rich flowers will attract bees and butterflies.
Herb Usage
Liatris spicata was used medicinally by Native Americans for its diuretic, stimulant, and expectorant properties and also for pain relief and for the treatment of snake bites! An infusion of the plant can be used for a sore throat or as an herbal insect repellent.
