Lime Basil (Ocimum x africanum 'Lime') Herb Seeds
Ocimum x africanum 'Lime' also known as Ocimum x citriodorum is a vigorous upright plant with grey green leaves and numerous stems. Considered an annual in Britain, Lime Basil can have its life extended if it is brought indoors when the weather cools. As a plant, it has a reputation for needing care and attention, but it is well worth the effort.
Originating in warm tropical regions, Lime Basil is a cross between O. americanum and O. basilicum, and grows from South East Asia to North East Africa. It thus thrives in a hot, sunny position, and does not do well outdoors in cool Summers.
Ideally grown in pots or containers so that it can be moved indoors if the need arises. Height: 15cm-70cm. (depending on growing conditions)
Growing Instructions
Sow in pots or module trays to minimise root disturbance.Cover seed with vermiculite.Maintain min 15'C. Germination 14-21 days. Water early in the day. Sow from February to June, or sow throughout the year inside out of season
