Green Shiso(Perilla Green) Herb Seeds.
Green Shiso is a Hardy Annual and is a great addition to your herb garden, to add an oriental twist to your salads. Also known as Beefsteak plant or Chinese Basil, it has lime-green leaves which are crinkled, the whole plant has a spicy scent and is an attractive foliage plant in its own right. It is native of Japan and as such features in Japanese cuisine it is related to mint and is reminiscent of mint but warmer/spicier.
Herb Usage
The leaves have a ginger-like flavour and can be added raw to salads. Or add to a stir-fry.
Growing Instructions
Start off indoors from March to June, sow onto the surface of a well-drained damp seed compost and cover lightly with compost or vermiculite. Protect from light until germination takes place then allow light. Harden off before planting out after all risk of frost has passed in May/June. Likes a sunny position in rich well-drained soil. Water only when dry avoid water getting onto the foliage. can be grown as a micro herb.
