Sage 'Amethyst Lips' is a recent addition to the 'Hot Lips range and like its relation grows to approximately 1m tall and 2m wide, as an example of a salvia, this is an excellent large variety and is a fabulous plant in its own right. It has leaves with a blackcurrant aroma and pea like blooms turning to a bi-coloured white and amethyst in combination. Sage 'Amethyst Lips' is a native of Mexico, and thus prefers warmer climates than we traditionally experience in the UK. However, Sage 'Amethyst Lips', can still thrive here if given protection from cold and excessive wet in the winter.
Sage 'Amethyst Lips' will flower from spring through to early autumn, and although Frost Hardy it may be a good idea to take cuttings if you live in the far North in case of a a severe winter.
