Celery Leaf (Apium graveolens)Herb in 9cm Pot
Celery Leaf, or Apium graveolens is a fully hardy biennial plant that produces aromatic, fresh leaves with a strong flavour of celery. Also known as Wild Celery, this attractive plant will send up furrowed stalks in its second year of life, which hold tiny green-white flowers. Celery Leaf prefers Full sun but will tolerate semi-shade and likes a free-draining soil. A really lovely addition to the herb garden, and often overlooked, although its uses are myriad(see herb usage)
Herb Usage
The young leaves are lovely used in salads or to flavour soups and sauces, and there is some evidence of benefit to those who suffer from osteo-arthritis. Excellent used in cocktails and summer drinks too.
