Baneberry 'Brunette'(Actaea simplex 'Brunette')Herb in 2 Litre Pot
Actaea or Baneberry 'Brunette' is a lovely herbaceous perennial, which has beautiful brownish-purple stems and foliage, and is a fabulous architectural plant as it produces tall bottle-brush like spires of white scented flowers in late summer., followed by berries which are poisonous. This is a great plant for a shady spot at the mid to back of the border where the striking pink flower spikes will tower over most of the other plants, it will reach up to 1.5m in height.
This scented plant is loved by bees and butterflies. Ideally it needs a shady spot to maintain the dark leaves, but it will grow in sun as long as the soil remains moist.
Herb Usage
This Actaea has no medicinal value in fact all parts of the plant are toxic. It is related to Black Cohosh but this variety is grown purely for its decorative architectural floral display in the garden.
