Some Herbs may be too tall for our standard packaging and will be trimmed to fit. This will not be detrimental to the plant but will mean that these herbs will flower later in the year.
The Blister packs used to protect our beautiful herbs during transit are made from 100% recycled plastic and can be recycled kerbside.
Lemon verbena is also known as Cedron and Lemon Beebrush, and this fabulous herb plant is an excellent addition to the herb garden.
Aloysia citrodora (Lemon verbena) is a deciduous perennial shrub native to South America, and is also found in North America and Europe It has attractive leaves and should always be included in herb gardens designed for scent, pot pourri and culinary uses. Its flowers are fairly unassuming, and appear in summer as small white or pale mauve blooms. The plant grows to a height of 2 metres and gives out a powerful lemony scent which intensifies when the leaves are rubbed or crushed.
Preferring light, well-drained soil and a sunny, sheltered position, lemon verbena will respond well to being cut back hard, as this keeps the herb plants from becoming straggly.
As a herb plant lemon verbena isn't as widely used in the kitchen or as part of home remedies as it should be. Only 100 years ago, it was a common ornamental plant found in European gardens, but today it is rarely planted. In folklore lemon verbena is linked with purification and love and was said to help attract a suitor. Made as a tea, lemon verbena is said to prevent a person from dreaming. The leaves can be used in sweet and savoury dishes, homemade pot-pourri, scented sachets and as an addition to the bath to wake you up! To make a relaxing bath infuse a handful of leaves in 1Litre of boiling water and add to the water as you fill your bath.
Our potted Lemon Verbena herb plants are generally available to buy online between April and September.

I’ve been buying Lemon Verbena plants every year from Hooks Green Herbs. They always arrive in great condition. This year I’m hoping to get mine to survive the winter indoors. Gave one plant to my niece last summer, it wintered indoors and is back in her garden thriving. Hopefully I’ll manage the same this year. Good size plants, well packaged. Nothing bad to say.
I would always look to buy herbs from hooks green their service was really 5star
