Thyme 'Foxley'(Thymus pulegioides 'Foxley') Herb in 9cm Pot

Thyme is grown the world over as it is such a versatile plant, not only is its foliage is attractive, the flowers are long-lasting and very pretty, and it is drought tolerant - an overall easy-care plant. On top of that it is one of the most useful herbs for the kitchen.

Thyme 'Foxley' reaches a height of 5 cm and with its small green and cream variegated leaves and pink flowers, this thyme is an excellent ground cover plant, it is a creeping variety and so suitable for planting in the rock garden, herb garden or the front of a border, or between pavers so it wuill release its scent when trodden on. Thyme is also known as very good container plant.  This particular variety is good for winter colour as its evergreen foliage takes on hints of bronze and pink. Thyme 'Foxley' likes a well-drained light soil, and it should not be too rich in nutrients as this will only encourage the plant to grow 'leggy' and lose its compact shape, also ensure that the plant is cut back after flowering again to help maintain shape. Being a native of the Mediterranean it needs a place in full sun.

Herb Usage

Thyme 'Foxley' is an excellent culinary variety of thyme for flavouring stuffing and stews, and is ideal added to a bouquet-garni. Pies and chutneys are also given an extra lift when this aromatic herb is added. It has also been used for many centuries medicinally and its essential oils have been used to treat aches and pains and sprains.

Speedy delivery plants in top condition

Posted by Gillian Fox on 14th Apr 2016

I ordered three plants of foxley thyme and the are all in excellent condition. I like the way they are in their own plastic pots, and as delivery was prompt they didn't have chance to dry out. The thyme is full of flavour and easy to use as it's the broad leaf variety. I will certainly use Hooks Green Nurseries again and recommend them highly.
