Some Herbs may be too tall for our standard packaging and will be trimmed to fit. This will not be detrimental to the plant but will mean that these herbs will flower later in the year.
The Blister packs used to protect our beautiful herbs during transit are made from 100% recycled plastic and can be recycled kerbside.
Thyme is grown the world over as it is such a versatile plant, not only is its foliage is attractive, the flowers are long-lasting and very pretty, and it is drought tolerant - an overall easy-care plant. On top of that it is one of the most useful herbs for the kitchen.
Thyme 'Silver Queen' reaches a height of 25-30 cm and with its small grey and white variegated leaves and pale lilac flowers, this is a variegated version of lemon thyme and as such has a lemony fragrance to its leaves also. It is suitable for planting in the rock garden, herb garden or the front of a border it will also make a very good container plant. Thyme 'Silver Queen' likes a well-drained light soil, and it should not be too rich in nutrients as this will only encourage the plant to grow 'leggy' and lose its compact shape, also ensure that the plant is cut back after flowering again to help maintain shape. Being a native of the Mediterranean it needs a place in full sun.
Thyme 'Silver Queen' iis a variegated form of lemon thyme and is an excellent herb for flavouring stuffing and stews, and is ideal added to a bouquet-garni. Pies and chutneys are also given an extra lift when this aromatic herb is added. It has also been used for many centuries medicinally and its essential oils have been used to treat aches and pains and sprains.
Our potted Thyme 'Silver Queen' herb plants are generally available to buy online all year round.
