Culinary Herbs
A meal, no matter how ordinary, can be made extraordinary by adding fresh herbs; pluck them off the plant and use them in any form - fresh, preserved or dry - and these often forgotten additions to the pot add a magical element that can transform a simple dish into something really spectacular.
The most iconic of the culinary varieties are, of course, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, and as the more exotic and tender annuals have become common place here in Britain, Basil and Coriander are right up there in terms of popular kitchen ingredients.
Basil pesto, Sage and onion stuffing, Thai curry with lashings of fresh coriander and of course chopped parsley over some penne arrabiata - these dishes just aren't the same without the herb seasonings.
