'Cha Cha' Chives (Allium schoenoprasum 'Cha Cha') Herb in 1Litre Pot
'Cha Cha' Chives or Allium schoenoprasum 'Cha Cha' are an attractive summer-flowering addition to the herb garden. These are a relatively new chive the taste is as normal chives but the flower head is something to talk about as it has mini chives growing out of it making it look very unusual but also edible making it a double whammy of taste!
'Cha Cha' chives will grow in any soil conditions, and although they prefer sunny positions, they will tolerate some shade. Growing to 20cm, they are a beautiful specimen when in full bloom, which is usually in late summer. The flowers are a white, star-like profusion above the leaf, and when grown in numbers, form a beautiful mass of white.
Herb Usage
The fine green flat leaves have a garlic/onion taste, and can be used to add flavour to salads, soft cheeses and Eastern dishes, as can the mini chives in the flower head.
