Lavender 'Vera' is a flowering plant in the family Lamiaceae, native to the Mediterranean region. Preferring light free-draining soil and an open sunny position, Lavender enjoys being cut back hard after flowering to maintain a neat shape, and plants will need to be replaced every 3-4 years.
Lavender Vera is a strongly aromatic shrub growing 30-40cm tall, and is well-recognised for its beautiful scented flowers and silvery-grey foliage. The evergreen nature of the leaves make it an ideal hedging and garden plant as it will give structure to a garden throughout the year.
The flowers of Lavender Vera are deep purple-blue, produced on spikes at the top of slender, leafless stems 10–30 cm long.
Herb Usage
The flowers are harvested for their essential oil, as well as its insect repellent properties, and infusions can ease headaches and encourage restfulness.
Growing Instructions
Sow in pots/seed trays. Cover seed with a thin layer of compost. Maintain min 15'C. Germination 14-21 days. Keep moist
