Some Herbs may be too tall for our standard packaging and will be trimmed to fit. This will not be detrimental to the plant but will mean that these herbs will flower later in the year.
The Blister packs used to protect our beautiful herbs during transit are made from 100% recycled plastic and can be recycled kerbside.
Veronicastrum Viginicum is commonly known as Black root, Culver's Root and Bowman's root. An elegant hardy perennial which is native to North America it can grow up to a height of 2m with a spread of 45cm a welcome addition for the mid to back of the border with it strong vertical flower spikes growing up to 1.2 M in height. It has finely toothed leaves with a purple/blue upright spike-like flower clusters, which appear from July. It prefers a sunny site in a well-drained soil. A perfect addition to naturalistic and prairie style planting. Veronicastrum can be kept as an increasingly skeletal form through autumn and winter, too and the Nectar-rich flowers will attract pollinators.
Black Root prefers a position in moist, fertile soil, in sun or partial shade, they are best planted at the middle or to the back of a mixed herbaceous border because of their stature, the flowers add height to the back of a sunny or partially shady border.
Black Root is a plant known for its medicinal qualities in fact it's other common name Culver's root refers to an 18th Century American physician Dr. Culver who used the bitter, dried roots which were boiled to produce a powerful tonic, as a purgative and emetic.
WARNING: IT'S MEDICINAL USE CAN BE DANGEROUS ! - This plant should be grown purely for its flowers and should only be used medicinally by a medical professional.
