Dyer's Chamomile 'Alba'(Anthemis tinctoria 'Abla')Herb in 1Litre Pot
Anthemis tinctoria 'Alba' is a Hardy Perennial this is the 'white flowered' version of the plant also known as Golden Marguerite or Ox-eye Chamomile. It has pretty white daisy-like flowers with a yellow centre from July to August, these are larger than its yellow cousin and are followed by seeds which ripen from Aug to September above finely cut aromatic foliage. Good in a sunny well drained border these drought tolerant plants will be a magnet to bees and butterflies. Support with brushwood in late spring before the flowers appear. After flowering cut back the faded stems to the ground to encourage new growth from the base of the plant.
Herb Usage
It has no culinary uses but as its common name suggests it was used in the past to dye fabrics producing excellent yellow, buff and golden-orange dyes.
