Salvia viridis also known by the common names Bluebeard, Joseph Sage and Painted Sage, and Clary Sage it is an annual herb plant with very decorative show of this plant are bracts not flowers which are available in white, pink or purple, and appear in Summer there are flowers which are very attractive to bees and insects, but not so showy.

As an annual herb plant, painted sage or Salvia vridis syn. S. horminum is grown as a flowering garden plant, but the leaves and flowers can be used to flavour food and drinks.
