Salvia x jamensis 'Hot Lips' (Sage'Hot Lips') Herb in 1L Pot

Sage 'Hot Lips' grows to approximately 1m tall and 2m wide, as an example of a salvia, this is an excellent large variety and is a fabulous plant in its own right. It has leaves with a minty aroma and pea like blooms turning to either white, pink or shades of red in combination.  Sage 'Hot Lips' is a native of Mexico, and thus prefers warmer climates than we traditionally experience in the UK. However, Sage 'Hot Lips', can still thrive here if given protection from cold and excessive wet in the winter.

Sage 'Hot Lips' will flower from spring through to early autumn, and although Frost Hardy it may be a good idea to take cuttings if you live in the far North in case of a a severe winter.  A great addition to the garden Sage 'Hot Lips' prefers a sunny spot flourishing in a well drained border or in a large pot.

The Ideal time for cutting back flowering shrub sages, is the spring once new growth can be seen from the base and risk of frost has past. Cut up to half the plant back shaping as needed. If Sages are becoming leggy then a light summer cut may be required to encourage flowers and new growth. Dead heading the old flowers will encourage new flowers all season.

A delightful plant for the garden and herb border. Sage 'Hot Lips' is such an attractive plant that most who see it, wish they had one in their garden!
